Relax at the famous Miradouros scattered around the city where you can enjoy an espresso, beer, or glass of wine on a terrace and take in the stunning views. Seek out the Jardim de São Pedro de Alcântara, Miradouro Das Portas Do Sol, or Miradouro Sophia de Mello in particular.
Wander the cobblestone streets and look for colourful Azulejos.

Go up the Santa Justa elevator near Rossio Square. Do a circle around the city on a tram.
The Convento da Ordem do Carmo is a remarkable landmark that almost survived the massive earthquake of 1755.
Check out the aquarium, one of the biggest in the world.
Relax in the sun on the local Lisbon beaches.
Be sure to give yourself a full day to visit nearby town Sintra. Here you may view royal retreats, estates, castles and other buildings, including the mediaeval Castelo dos Mouros, the Pena National Palace and the Sintra National Palace. We also visited Convento de Santa Cruz da Serra da Sintra (Convent of the Capuchos) and Quinta da Regaleira.
I spent 2 full weeks in Lisbon and was unable to see everything. This was the first stop of an 8 month trip in Europe and I often think that I would like to return to Lisbon and Portugal again soon.
